Sharing is Caring:

To lead well, we all need the right tools. The more disciplined we are with our way of doing things the more productive and efficient our results will be. In order to help leaders achieve better productivity and results, we share 5 leadership qualities that will make you a better leader.

“A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better.”

Jim rohn

The 5 Leadership Qualities Are:

1-Vision

Being able to identify the future challenges and opportunities is a quality that a leader must-have. Visioning the future of the business that you’re in and the team you lead can give you clarity. This will help you set the path to achieving better results.

Likewise thinking about how you’re gone grow your business, beat the competition, launch new products, all starts with a thought in our head.

“A leader is the one, who knows the way, goes the way and show the way”

John C.Maxwell

In the story of the three bricklayers, when asked what they wanted in their career. The first answered – “just wanted a job”,  the second answered- “Just want to earn lots of money”. The third answered-“I’m going to build the biggest Cathedral known to man”.

As expected the third went to have a higher successful life. The other two went to live a less successful life.

Clarity + Action = Results

Having the clarity of what you want in the future will only make the path to create the necessity to plan of action to achieve the desired outcome.  Just remind your-self dream big.

2-Motivation

The ability to inspire others to follow your vision is possibly one of the most difficult jobs that a leader has. Everything is fine when all is well, but when things get nasty they will look to their leader first.

As a leader, you should be able to remain calm in any stressful situation, use a proactive approach and positive mentality. You want to show that you are in control of the situation, not the situation in control of you.

“Don’t find the fault, find the remedy”

Henry Ford

Having this leadership quality will create a work environment culture that in challenging situations things are to be handled constructively.

People will reflect their leader actions. With time if you are motivated to get things done and achieve your goals more likely people will follow your actions.

3-Communication

Leaders have to be able to communicate clearly and efficiently. Poor communication skills can lead to poor results in future. That’s why this is a skill that a leader must-have.

As a leader, if don’t communicate clearly your people will have difficulty understand your vision and goals.

“Great leaders communicate and great communicators lead”

Simon Sinek

Communication has to be consistent, clear when setting out work expectations and also giving peoples feedback.

Consequently, with great communication skills, you will be able to run a more productive workplace. Your people will have a clear understanding of what needs to be achieved.

4-Empathy

Leaders also need the ability to understand peoples needs. This meaning to understand the situations before reacting.

Most of the times we assume that we know the answers before we gather the facts when handling peoples situations.

Seek first to understand, then to be understood

7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen Covey

So, being able to put yourself in their shoes and feel what their feeling in certain situations, listen with the intent to understand what’s happening.

Also showing good intent of helping them when possible is one of the greatest leadership qualities.

This will show that as a leader you care the people and want them to be the best version of themselves.

5-Mentoring

Great leaders inspire their people to be at their best and improve their skills. Being able to pull out the best out of their people leaders will only gain followers. And importantly prepare their people to new challenges that may arise in the future.

Even more, preparing the next line of succession is a must in modern days, people move faster between jobs than ever before. Having someone ready to take your position as a leader if you leave is a great thing.

Therefore, having the will to build trust, inspire, give feedback, take people out of their comfort zone and make them a much better version of yourself is one of the most rewarding achievements a leader can have in their career.

Being in a leadership role is sometimes very difficult, leaders have to deal with challenges daily, but great leaders get things done.
