This past week, I challenged myself to a full lifestyle reset: 7 days of clean eating, no alcohol, reduced caffeine, daily physical training, voice work, and deep reading. The goal? To realign with my best self and create momentum for the months ahead. What I didn’t expect was just how much clarity, control, and quiet power this week would uncover.
This wasn’t a holiday. It was a full physical, mental, and emotional recalibration. And the timing couldn’t have been better. With a demanding job, a family to lead, and a personal mission to grow, this reset week allowed me to pause the noise—and return with intention.
What I Committed To:
- No alcohol
- No added sugar
- Reduced coffee (1 cup/day max)
- Daily running or Apple Fitness workouts (including core and mindfulness sessions)
- 10-minute core + 5-minute mindfulness most days
- Daily smoothie with fruit, greens, and ginger for sustained energy
- Nutrient-rich meals (mackerel with rice, carrot soup, poached eggs on toast)
- Voice training (daily practice)
- 1 hour of reading per day (Finished “Feel-Good Productivity” by Ali Abdaal)
Key Wins From the Week:
1. Mental Clarity
My mind felt sharper every day. By Day 4, I was noticing more detail in my environment. My sense of smell even improved. The mental fog I didn’t know I had began to lift. The simple act of removing sugar and alcohol made space for deeper awareness.
2. Discipline Through Simplicity
By focusing on the basics—movement, nutrition, rest, reflection—I built a rhythm that didn’t rely on willpower. The structure made it easier to show up. I wasn’t chasing motivation. I was building momentum.
3. Physical Flow
The morning runs, core workouts, and walking to school with my kids gave me energy instead of draining it. Apple Fitness became my go-to for short, impactful sessions that kept me moving daily. Pairing this with energizing smoothies gave me the fuel to recover and perform.
4. Emotional Grounding
With no alcohol in my system, I noticed my emotions were more stable. I felt more present with my family, calmer in my thoughts, and clearer in my decision-making. The silence wasn’t empty—it was powerful.
5. Anchoring in Purpose
I revisited a story that means everything to me: “Little Eyes Are Watching.”
That reminder kept me focused: I’m not just doing this for me. I’m doing this to lead by example for my children. My habits speak louder than my words ever could.
6. Deep Learning
Reading Feel-Good Productivity was the perfect companion to this reset. Ali Abdaal’s message was simple but transformative: energy is the real foundation of success. I learned that productivity doesn’t have to come from pressure—it can come from joy, rest, and alignment.
Lessons I’m Taking Forward:
- Energy comes from alignment, not extremes.
- Cold showers, smoothies, journaling, and clean meals work when they’re part of a bigger system.
- Leadership is built in quiet consistency.
- Rest is earned and meaningful when you’ve truly shown up.
- Productivity that feels good is sustainable—and powerful.
Next Steps:
As I return to work, I’m not trying to maintain all of this perfectly. I’m carrying forward what matters most:
- 3x/week runs (Mon evening, Thu morning, Sat flexible)
- Smoothies, cold-brew tea, clean meals
- Mindfulness + journaling twice a week
- Continued voice training and one new book per month
This wasn’t a detox. It was a realignment.
And here’s what I now believe at my core:
Success doesn’t create well-being. Well-being creates success.
Let’s build from that.
